All Weekend Long
Across The Pond is now playing at the Orangeville Opera House. There are shows Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday Afternoon. This show, starring Leisa Way and The Lonely Hearts Club Band, celebrates Celebrate 50 years of British pop & rock music from familiar hits of the 60’s to today’s biggest stars. The Island Lake Ice Fishing Derby continues this weekend, until Monday. Head out to Island Lake Conservation Area and try your hand at Ice Fishing there are cash prizes to be won. Go to www.islandlakederby.ca for rules and registration.
Friday
Friday Evening from 6:00 – 8:00 join Evolve EO with a Valentine DIY Lip Balm Workshop in Caledon. In this workshop you will learn how to make natural lip balms that will protect your lips from the harsh weather. Space for this workshop is limited so register for the event via event bright eventbrite.ca.
Saturday
M Power is hosting a Family Drawing Event on Saturday, at 9:00 am, at Tony Rose, in the TD Canada Trust Room. Eva Omes will guide you through the fundamentals of art and drawing. To register for the event contact M Power at their website www.mprogram.org.
Head to 21 Main in Grand Valley where they have the next Valentine’s themed art project on Saturday at 10:30 – 11:30 am. This week children will make a heart themed wreath. Go to www.21main.ca to register for the event.
If you have young children and are thinking of a pre school the Headwater Hills Montessori School is holding an open house on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Parents and children are welcome to tour the school and check out the facilities. The school is located at 21170 Hurontario Street in Caledon.
Saturday evening from 6:00 – 10:00 pm Island Lake Conservation Area is hosting another Moonlight Event. You can skate on the lake or try your hand a snowshoeing the trails at the park. Sunday
Autism Ontario is hosting a Family Stake at Alder Recreation Centre on Sunday from 12:30 – 1:30. This event is open to children with ASD, their siblings, parents and caregivers. Go to www.eventbrite.ca to register.
Also Sunday at the Orangeville Fairgrounds is the Orangeville Bridal Show from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Monday
There is fun for the whole family Around Orangeville this Family Day Monday, indoors and out.
Family Day at Alder Recreation Centre and Library, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is free public skating sponsored by RBC, free public swimming and free fitness demos going on all day. There is also face painting, mural decorating and at the Library you can meet Emmitt from the Lego Movie and Peppa Pig from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm. The Mono Nordic Ski Club is hosting a Family Ski Day from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Monora Park. You can get out and ski their trails for free and the club is also offering free equipment rentals all day.
You can head back to Island Lake Conservation Area again on Monday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, as they host their Family Day Event, you can learn to ice fish, bring your skates to skate on the lake, try snowshoes, a kicksled, or fat tire bikes out on the lake, try crokicurl, or just explore the trails around the lake. In Shelburne check out Shlbrrrr fest 2019. There are a whole lot of fun activities for the whole family going on all day. Head to Fiddle Park from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to check out all the festivities.
Family Day at Teen Ranch is from 1:00 – 4:00 pm there is a free family skate and tobogganing and tubing on the hills (tubes will be provided).
Rotary Club of Erin is hosting its Family Day Event at Centre 2000 in Erin starting at 12:00 noon. Check out carnival games, free family staking at the arena and free family movie starting at 3:30.
If you’re feeling a little artistic head to the Alton Mill and drop into the Hive to Give it a Whirl. You can try encaustic painting, which uses heat and beeswax to create art. This event is from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm and check out www.thehiveencausticstudio.com for more information.
If you’re in Caledon East check out Snowshoes and Snow-Clues, and discover winter wild life in the area. This event starts at 10:00 am at the Caledon East Arena, snowshoes will be provided.
