There is a lot going on around Orangeville this weekend (February 8 – 10).
Starting Friday night there are two events for the kids to check out. Party Rockers youth dance at the Orangeville Fairgrounds for kids aged 7 – 13 and runs from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This is their Valentines themed event and is supervised by adults, has music, snack bar, contests and prizes. Tickets are available at the door.
If the Party Rockers event isn’t your thing you could check out the Kids Night Out Zumba at the Headwaters Racquet Club. The event runs from 5:30 – 8:30 pm and offers pizza, valentines games and a Zumba dance party. This event is open to both member and non-members of the Racquet Club and is for children ages 4 – 12 contact the Racquet club to register.
Saturday morning the Farmers Market reruns to Town Hall and runs from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm get out and support your favourite local vendors.
While your downtown head over to the Mill Street Library, and check out the Valentine’s Book and Bake Sale. They will have a selection of sweet baked treats and used books. This event runs from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Saturday also marks the start of the Annual Island Lake Ice Fishing Derby. This event starts Saturday morning at 8:00am and runs until Family day February 18. There are prizes to be won check out the Island Lake Conservation website for more details.
If you’re in the Grand Valley area on Saturday, 21 Main is hosting a Valentines Day Card Workshop for your kids from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Included with your ticket are the supplies to make 25 cards and the one hour of instruction. You can buy tickets for the event on the 21 Main website.
The Orangeville Northmen are running another Try Lacrosse Session on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm at ODSS. Bring your indoor running shoes, a helmet and some water, the Northmen will provide sticks and your kids can try Canada’s National Game.
Saturday Night is the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival Annual Blues Bash fundraiser at the Best Western hotel. Doors open at 6:30 pm there will be a great line up of musicians, a silent auction and snack buffet. Tickets are available on line or at the door. All proceeds from the event will support the Blues and Jazz Festival which will be running May 31 – June 2 2019.
There is more fun to be had on Sunday. At Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre, Stars Winter Adventure Race, a team snowshoe adventure race will be held starting at 9:00 am wrapping up at noon. Not sure how the weather we have had this week will impact the event but it looks like it could be a fun time.
Sunday morning God’s Closet will be holding another Free Shop Day, where families can pay $1 entrance fee and have the chance to shop (for free) for children’s clothing aged newborn to 16 years. This event is held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Hockley Road and runs from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to get some gently used clothing for your children.
If you are in Shelburne on Sunday head to Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex for a free public skate from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. This event is sponsored by my colleague at Royal LePage RCR Ken Bennington.
For all the dog lovers out there, check out the Westies in Need event at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. This event is in support of Westies in Need and will provide an indoor location to get your dogs out for a run and play. The event runs from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door.
