There are a lot of great things to do in our communities this weekend. Get out doors for some tree planting or a 5 km run or head over to the library for a Family Movie Matinee. Here are some more details on all the great events going on this weekend #AroundOrangeville.
As part of the Town of Orangeville’s Earth Week celebrations, go to Fendley Park, in Orangeville, on Saturday and participate in a Tree Planting, sponsored by the Credit Valley Conservation Authority and UPS. The Tree planting will begin at 9:00 am and will be followed up with a free barbecue lunch for the participants starting at 11:30 am. Go to orangeville.ca for more details about the tree planting.
Saturday morning the Credit Valley Conservation Authority will be holding a Free Tree Seedling Giveaway at the TSC store on Highway 9 from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm. You can get one free tree seedling per household to plant on your own property. Go to cvc.ca for more details about the giveaway.
Saturday afternoon gather the kids and some snacks and head to the Orangeville Library on Mill Street at 2:00 pm, for a Saturday Movie Matinee. They will be showing Wall-E, check out the Facebook event page for more details.
Saturday morning the Addison Memorial Run for a Reason in Support of Mental Health, will be held at Fiddle Park in Shelburne. 5 km run/walk to raise awareness for mental health in the memory of Addison Guccino in conjunction with Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Registration begins at 8:00 am followed by the kids run at 9:00 am and the 5km run / walk starts at 10:00 am. Go to the Facebook event page for more information about this event.
Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Heatherlea Farm Shoppe is hosting it’s Spring Fling. Bring your family out the farm and participate in some hands-on activities and visit with the baby chicks. Go to heatherlea-farm-shoppe.myshopify.com for tickets and more information.
Help support the Mulmur Melancthon Fire Department by purchasing a bag of Holmes Agro’s Spring Lawn Fertilizer (20kg bag) at Holmes Ago Reddickville Plant on Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Proceeds going towards new fire equipment. Members of the fire department will be there to help you load your car, as well as answer any fire prevention questions. If your kids are interested in decorating cupcakes you can head to Spun Sugar in Bolton for their Cupcake Decorating Class on either Saturday or Sunday at 2:00 pm. Children will be provided with everything they will need to complete a spring themed cupcake. Go to the Facebook event page for cost and registration information.
21 Main in Grand Valley is hosting a Family Clay Class, on Saturday starting at 10:30 am. Join Ann Randeraad at 21 Main for this pottery class where children and adults will hand build a cup to use in everyday life. Dishwasher & food safe. On Saturday starting at 2:00 pm you can go to Dufferin Garden Centre on C-Line for their Pruning Workshop. In this hands-on workshop you will learn techniques for pruning your trees and shrubs around your property. There is no cost but spaces are limited so follow the link to Register for the workshop.
Saturday evening at 6:00 pm at the Alder Recreation Centre check out the Synchronized Swimming Watershow featuring the Town of Orangeville Synchro Swim Team. Admission is free check out the Facebook event page for more details.
Saturday evening is the Spring Ceili, presented by Canada’s School of Dance, held at the Westminster United Church on Broadway. This evening of dancing will start at 6:30 pm There will be live music and a caller to guide you through the dances so no experience needed. Bring friends and family and we'll have a great time. The Museum of Dufferin is opening a new exhibit of art by local artist Emilia Perri. On Sunday they will be hosting an Opening Reception from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Go to the Facebook event page for more information about the event.
