Looks like we are in for some great weather this weekend in town with temps getting into the mid teens. If you are thinking about the taking advantage of the great spring weather you can head to Island Lake or Mono Cliffs for a hike or bring you kids to some of the great parks around town. If you are looking for something to do here are some ideas of things that are going on Around Orangeville.
This one is for the adults, head over to Island Lake Conservation Area for Maple Syrup by Lamplight. This is a guided tour by lamplight through the sugar bush at Island Lake followed with camp fire treats, maple taffy and an alcoholic beverage. This event is on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and again at 9:00 pm. Go to maplesyrupfest.com for more information and to buy tickets for this event.
Off the Grid the latest production by Theatre Orangeville continues its run at the Orangeville Opera House this weekend. Off the Grid is a new show written by John Spurway about a couple who decide to celebrate their anniversary with a weekend off the grid. There are shows on Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca for tickets and more information about the show.
Saturday
The Orangeville Farmers Market returns to Town Hall on Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Come out and support all the great local vendors.
Calling artists aged 13 – 18 come out to the Orangeville Library on Mill Street for the Underground Art Scene - Teen Open Mic on Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. This event is sponsored by the Teen Advisory Group and Theatre Orangeville Acadamy. Go to the Facebook event page for details and to sign up.
Head to the Grand Valley Community Centre on Saturday for the Swing into Spring Craft Market. You will be able to purchase hand made crafts, baked good and items from an assortment of vendors. The market will be open from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm go to the Facebook event page for more details.
If you are in Grand Valley stop by 21 Main with your little one for a Tutu Making Workshop. Children ages 4 and up will have fun creating their own tutu. This event runs from 10:30 – 11:30 am on Saturday morning. Go to 21main.ca for more details and to purchase your tickets.
Mulmur Maple Madness is on Saturday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Come out for pancakes, sausages and Maple Syrup. You will be able to tour the sugar bush and purchase maple products from 4M Maple Company. Go to the Facebook event page for location and more details.
If you are out shopping at Zhers on Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the Orangeville Girl Guides will be there selling the classic Chocolate and Vanilla Girl Guide Cookies. How can you resit this classic combination.
Sunday
Join local artist Sharon Christensen as she shows us how to use a palette knife to create this lovely Lady Bird canvas. No experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided. Refreshments will be available. This event is being held at Community Living Dufferin on County Road 3, on Sunday from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. Head to Dinoland Family Fun Centre in Tottenham on Sunday for their second annual Easter Egg Hunt. Your children will be able to hunt for Easter eggs have pictures taken with the Easter Bunny and play. You can register for the 11:00 am or the 2:00 pm timeslot.
