There are only a couple of weekends left before the kids are back to school. If you are venturing down to Toronto remember that the CNE opens this weekend. If you are staying local there are a number of family friendly events going on in our communities for you to enjoy this weekend.
Friday night celebrate local fashion and food at the Great Taste Fashion Gala, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Mill Street under the Taste of Orangeville tent. This is sure to be fun evening of fashion and food, go to downtownorangeville.ca for more information or to purchase your tickets to the event.
Saturday is Brett’s Day Games and Golf Tournament at Lynbrook Family Golf Centre, from 12:00 – 6:00 pm. This will be fun day of games, golf, refreshments and raising funds for the Brett Snell Memorial Scholarship. Go to caledon.snapd.com/events/ for more information and to buy your tickets.
Saturday is a Family Movie Matinee at 2:00 pm at the Orangeville Public Library on Mill Street. Bring some snacks and come see the screening of The Kid Who Would Be King an updated telling of the story of King Arthur at the Library. Go to orangeville.ca for more information about this event.
In Shelburne on Saturday it’s the Family Fun Food and Music Festival from 12:00 – 10:00 pm. Come out and enjoy a fun day of events for the kids, great music and food at Fiddle Park. Go to eventbrite.ca for tickets and more information about this event.
Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm come to Hillsburgh where they will have Trafalgar Road closed to celebrate The Spirit of the Hills Family Fun Day. The theme for this event is a day at the movies so dress up as your favourite movie character and celebrate the community of Hillsburgh with some fun family events including bouncy castles, face painting, live music and some great vendors. Sweet Pea’s All Out Camp Out is this weekend for their Summer Mud Bog. You can camp on site Friday and Saturday nights. The Mud Bog will run Saturday and Sunday starting at 9:00 am Saturday. Go to the Facebook event page for more details about the weekend.
Downtown Orangeville on Saturday you can stop by the Orangeville Farmers Market and it’s Sidewalk Saturday. You can grab some great produce and other items at the market then walk Broadway and check out all the wonderful shops in downtown Orangeville. The Taste of Orangeville is on Saturday under the big tent on Mill Street from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm come out and sample some of the great cuisine that is available in Orangeville. This event is free to get in and you can purchase food tickets to sample some of the great dishes that some of our local restaurants will be serving up. The Taste of Orangeville After Party will be hosted by Soulyve Catering and will offer a cash bar and power patties, as well as great music all night under the tent. This event will start at 5:00 pm and run until 1:00 am, there will be a $5 cover charge for this event. Check out Soulyve Catering & Events Facebook page for more details.
Sunday is the 4th Annual Natasha Paterson Memorial Car Show in Shelburne at the Natasha Paterson Memorial Park on Gordon Street from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be classic cars, games and entertainment, come out and support this great cause. Go to the Facebook event page for more information.
If you are a fan of classical music you will want to check out the Belfountain Music Festival this weekend, at the Alton Mill and the Paul Morin Gallery and will feature some great classical musicians. Go to belfountainmusic.com for information and to purchase your tickets.

BONUS Monday event the Town of Orangeville will be hosting a Movie Night in the Park at Alder Recreation Centre. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a screening of Shrek under the stars at the Alder Parklands, the movie will begin at dusk, popcorn and snacks will be available at the concession stand.
