The evenings are starting to feel a little cooler and summer is coming to an end but the forecast is for a beautiful weekend and there are some great events for the whole family to enjoy this weekend in our communities.

Theatre Orangeville will be presenting their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream this weekend, outdoors at the Island Lake Amphitheatre. Come and experience the magic and whimsy of this Shakespearean classic in a one of a kind setting. There will be performances Friday through Sunday go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca to purchase your tickets.

Smokies Garage will be hosting a Show and Shine this weekend at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. Stop by either day for great vehicles, food and entertainment. Saturday come out and see all the beautiful bikes and Sunday is Smokies Garage car show. All proceeds from the weekend event will be donated to Kidsport Orangeville and District. The sunflowers are in bloom and you can head to Sweet Pea’s farm to get some great family photo’s taken in the sunflower fields. Stop by Sweet Pea’s on Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm to check out the sunflowers and enjoy some kid’s entertainment with bouncy castles and a petting zoo. There will be a barbecue and Kawartha Dairy ice cream as well. For more information go to the Facebook event page.

Mud Hero will be hosting their Toronto North event at the Albion Hills Conservation area on Saturday and Sunday. You can participate in the 6KM course featuring 18 obstacles, there is on site camping and an afterparty for all the participants. To register go to eventbrite.ca.

Friday is Kid’s Day at the Erin Farmers Market from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Head to the market and the kids can enjoy treats, crafts and the construction zone. Go to the Facebook event page for more information.

Saturday stop by the Orangeville Farmers Market from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm and this week is the Corn Roast at the Market. In addition to all the wonderful vendors that are at the market every Saturday you can grab a free roasted corn on the cob courtesy of Broadway Pentecostal Church. Bring your kids to the Erin Municipal Yard on Saturday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and they can Touch a Truck. There will be vehicles from the Fire Department and Public Works Trucks for kids to climb in and explore. You can also learn about what all the trucks do from the operators. As the Will Swim for Food campaign draws to a close this week they will be hosting a final event. On Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm the swim team will be hosting a charity car wash and bottle drive at 87 John Street to continue to raise funds for the Orangeville Foodbank. This group has done an amazing job this summer supporting the food bank it would be great if you could make it out to help get them to their fundraising goals. If your car is looking a little dirty head over to Canadian Tire in Orangeville between 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday and get your car nice and clean while supporting the Orangeville Flyers Atom A Team. The hockey team will be washing cars and raising funds for their team stop by and help them out.

Saturday Night in Grand Valley there will be an outdoor screening of Hotel Transylvania 3 at Greta and Titch Boswell Memorial Lions Park Ball Diamond, starting at 7:30 the film will begin at dusk. They will be collecting donations for the local food bank so please remember to bring some non perishable food items for donation. Sunday from 12:00 – 5:00 pm head to the Acton Legion for the 5th Annual Acton Legion Car Show and shine. Come out and see some great classic cars from the 1920’s to the 1980’s. There will be food and entertainment, the organizers are asking that you bring a donation to the Acton Food Share. For more information go to the Facebook event page.
