With Christmas just around the corner, you might be looking for something to get out and do this weekend to keep everyone a little sane. There are a few family-friendly activities going on in our communities this weekend that you can get out and enjoy with the family.
All Weekend Long
Christmas in the Park continues at Kay Cee Gardens Park in Orangeville every night from 5:30 – 10:00 pm until December 31. Thank you to the Orangeville Optimists Club and all the sponsors for putting together such an amazing display for our community. Theatre Orangeville's production of Little Women ends its run at the Orangeville Opera House this weekend with shows Friday through Sunday. This show has received some great reviews and tickets are selling fast for the remaining performances. The Millcroft Inn will be hosting the Nutcracker Afternoon Tea this weekend. This Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy some savoury treats and relaxing tea at the Millcroft Inn and take some time to relax and enjoy the afternoon. Starting this Friday you can go to Fairytale Horse and Carriage Services on County Road 11, Amaranth for and enjoy a Winter Sleigh Ride with your family. Pictures with Santa
Santa will be returning to Pottery Parties Studio in the Mill Street Mall this weekend. Stop by Saturday or Sunday and take advantage of the great backdrop and have your pictures taken with Santa. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
Santa will be returning to Alder Recreation Centre this weekend and will be available daily until Christmas Eve (Tuesday) using the setting from the Orangeville Mall. Stop by and get your kids' photos taken. Go to the Facebook event page for times and more dates for pictures with Santa.
Friday
Friday Canadian Blood Services will be in Shelburne at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex from 3:30 – 6:30 pm. If you can spare the time and stop by, they are always looking for donors and you can help save someone’s life. For more information about Canadian Blood Services go to blood.ca.
Saturday
The Orangeville Girl Guides will be hosting a Winter Drop-in at the Alder Recreation Centre on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Stop by with your kids and for $5 you can take part in some games and crafts and enjoy some snacks. All money raised will help support the Girl Guides trip to Montreal in 2020. The Orangeville Public Library will be hosting a Family Movie Matinee this Saturday at 2:00 pm. They will be showing Disney’s: A Christmas Carol so bring the whole family and some snacks and enjoy the show. Go to www.orangeville.ca/orangeville-public-library for more details.
The Orangeville Farmers Market will be back at Town Hall for a Special Christmas Market on Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Art with Jada in the Mill Street Mall will be hosting a Gingerbread House Workshop. You can go and drink hot chocolate and decorate pre-built gingerbread houses. For more details check out the Facebook event page.
If you are in the Grand Valley area Second Shot will be hosting a Christmas Open House on Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. You can stop by and see what they are up to recycling old skateboards and making them into watches, knives and other pieces of art. The Orangeville Community Band will be presenting Music at Christmas on Saturday starting at 7:00 pm at the Westminster United Church. You can see this talented collection of local musicians perform your favourite holiday songs accompanied by some guest vocalists.
