This week started with a brief look at an early spring and ended with the return of old man winter. This weekend we can celebrate the Leap Year and an extra day in the month of February. There are some great events going on in our communities this weekend for you to get out and enjoy with your family.
All Weekend Long
Theatre Orangeville’s production of Early Morning Rain – The Legend of Gordon Lightfoot is in its final weekend at the Orangeville Opera House. If you haven’t been out to see this show yet you can still get tickets at tickets.theatreorangeville.ca for any of the shows through to Sunday.
Friday
Friday the OSSTF Teachers will be on strike and that means the public elementary and high schools in our area will be closed. So if you are looking for something to do, the Town of Shelburne will be hosting a Toonie Skate on Friday form 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex. Friday Night join the Headwaters Racquet Club for the Women’s Night Out Learn to Play Squash from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. This event is open to the general public and for $15 women can come out and learn how to play squash, check out the facilities at the club and meet some other women in our community. Saturday
If you are looking to register for spring and summer programs in the Shelburne area the first of three Community Sports and Recreation Registration dates at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex on Saturday from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to register your children for town run programs as well as many other local sports leagues and other recreation activities this spring and summer. Thin Mint Girl Guide Cookies are back and if you are excited to pick some up come to the Orangeville Zhers on Saturday, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and support the 5th Orangeville Brownies. Cookie sales are one of the biggest, and most delicious, fundraisers the Girl Guides run and it helps fund their programs for the year. For more details go to the Facebook event page.
Saturday at the Alder Street Recreation Centre you will have the opportunity to check out the Orangeville Farmers Market inside and on the west side of town from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. This is a good opportunity for people on the west side of town or anyone that will be at the rec centre to check out the great vendors of the indoor market. It’s a Leap Year and on Saturday there will be a Leap Year Party in support of Hospice Dufferin at the In Memoriam Life Celebration Centre in Mono starting at 6:00 pm. Come out for an amazing dinner, prepared by Lavender Blue Catering, and fun night of music and dancing with a live performance by the Campfire Poets. Saturday at the Grand Valley Recreation Centre the Grand Valley Lions Club will be hosting a Soup Lunch from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come out and enjoy a variety of soups and butter tarts provided by Katered by Kelly, and help the Lions Club raise funds for the Grand Valley Public School buy ebooks. Saturday in Downtown Shelburne will be the first Shelburne Super Saturday with sales at many of the downtown retailers and restaurants offer some amazing deals all day long. Landman Gardens is hosting a Slow Cooker Cooking Workshop on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:30 pm at the farm. You will come away from this workshop with some great recipes you can use in your slow cooker that will make your family some simple and tasty meals on those busy nights. Sunday
Sunday the Total Elegance Wedding Show will be at the OAS Event Centre at the Orangeville Fairgrounds from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
