I have been away the last two weeks and have not been able to publish the #AroundOrangeville blog post hope everyone had a great time at the Orangeville Rotary Ribfest last weekend and all the other great events that were going on in our communities. This weekend there are a number of great family friendly events going on in our communities.
Theatre Orangeville Young Company will be presenting Matilda at the Orangeville Opera House this weekend with shows Friday thru Sunday. This company, under the direction of Pamela Demetriou, puts on a fantastic performance that will please the audience. For tickets and show times go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca.
The John Deere Show 2019 will be held at the Grand Valley Community Centre from Friday to Sunday this weekend. Come by and see a large collection of classic John Deere Tractors and take part in some family friendly activities, food trucks and more. This weekend is Pickin in the Park at Fiddle Park in Shelburne. Come out and enjoy a great weekend of music and other fun events at this festival with events running all day and open mic all evening. On Friday the Museum of Dufferin is hosting The Hotel Alexandria Escape Room from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. You will have 45 minutes to figure out the puzzles and execute your escape. Perked Pierogi in Grand Valley is having its Grand Opening on Friday. Stop by for a free coffee all day and try some of the delicious food they serve up. The ribbon cutting will take place at 1:30 pm. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
Saturday morning stop by Downtown Orangeville and enjoy Galic Day at the Orangeville Farmers Market from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm for an amazing selection of local produce and other quality products from all the great vendors. Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm you can have your say about what you would like to see done with Harvey Curry Park (Every Kids Park). The Town of Orangeville will be holding a public consultation at the park seeking input from the community for visions of what the remodeled playground and splashpad will become. The Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre will be hosting a Garage Sale on Saturday from 8:30-11:30 am. Proceeds from sales will be donated to our 2019 Friends For Life! Walk event, taking place on September 21st at Island Lake Conservation Area. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
In the Hills Equine is hosting another Pony Club on Saturday from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. The event is geared for children ages 2-8. Children will learn about basic rules and safety in the barn and around the horses, ponies and miniature horses. Go to the Facebook event page for more details about the Pony Club.
GVG Farms in East Garafraxa will be hosting an Open House on Sunday from 12:00 – 5:00 pm. Come by the farm and see everything they have to offer. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
If you have a dog or cat and need to get their nails trimmed stop by Broadway Animal Hospital on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm for a Free Nail Trim in exchange for a donation of pet food or cat litter in support of the Headwaters Pet Food Bank. Go to the Facebook event page for more information.
Starting on Sunday and running through October the Museum of Dufferin is asking you to Please Draw on the Walls in the Silo Gallery. If you visit the Museum you can take some inspiration from the collections there and head to the Silo Gallery where the walls will be covered in paper and you are encouraged to draw a picture and leave your mark at the Museum.
