Friday June 21, 2019 is the first day of summer and the weather is starting to warm up finally. This weekend there are some great events going on #AroundOrangeville so get out there with your family and enjoy.

Friday is also National Indigenous People’s Day, come out to Alexandria Park, behind Town Hall, on Friday and Saturday for a two-day celebration of Indigenous People in Dufferin. Go to the Facebook event page for more details about Indigenous People’s Day in Dufferin.

The 2nd Annual Celebrate Your Awesome Day is on Saturday from 1:00 – 11:00 pm on Mill Street. Come and join the party and celebrate Pride and Diversity with live music and vendors all day. Go to the Celebrate Your Awesome Facebook page for more details and a full schedule of shows.

As part of Celebrate Your Awesome the Orangeville Public Library will be offering the Awesome Human Library where they will have 6 human books that you can check out and spend a 30 minute session learning about their lives on Saturday between 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Saturday come out to the Orangeville Farmers Market and check out the great products the vendors have to offer. From 8:00 am – 1:00 pm stop by and pick up some fresh produce and other products from the great vendors. The Orangeville Public Library will have a booth at the Orangeville Farmers Market on Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm to celebrate the kick off of the TD Summer Reading Club for 2019. You can register your child in the Summer Reading Club and receive your notebook to keep track of all the books you read this summer. Your children can also meet and have their picture taken with Emmitt from the Lego Movie at the market. Check out the Facebook event page for more details.

If you have young children and you haven’t checked out Music Together of Orangeville yet I would recommend you go get to one of their Demo Classes this week. Starting Saturday and also being offered on Monday and Wednesday this week Music Together Orangeville is offering FREE demo classes at Jungle Oasis Playground in Orangeville. Go to the Facebook event page for a listing of all the dates and times for these classes, you and your kids will love the program.

Calling all Lacrosse fans this weekend from Friday to Sunday is the 21st Annual Barry Burman Summer Shootout Tournament in Orangeville. Come out and support your Northmen as they host some of the top teams in the area in this tournament. Go to the Facebook event page for more details about the tournament.

Orangeville Music Theatre will be opening its production of Grease this weekend with shows Friday through Sunday at the Orangeville Opera House. Come and see these great performers put on this classic show. For tickets and show times head over to orangevillemusictheatre.com.

If you love great food and great beer get your tickets and go to Good Lot Farmstead Brewing for the latest edition of Chef About Town on Sunday from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. In this series Chef Philip Dewar from Soulyve has been touring to various venues around Dufferin County preparing meals with his own Carib-Fusion twist. If cars are your thing head to the OAS Event Centre at the Orangeville Fairgrounds on Sunday from 12:00 – 4:00 pm where Smokies Garage Presents: Opening Weekend Car Show. Come and check out some great cars, entertainment and food Sunday afternoon and help Smokies Garage raise funds for Kidsport Orangeville & District. Sunday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, wrap up your weekend at Mill Creek Gardens Ice Cream Shop with Ice Cream and Chat event with Orangeville Mayor Sandy Brown. Sandy will be available to answer questions and address your concerns about our town. Kinderclub Day Care is closing its doors and is hosting Garage Sale on Saturday stop by their location on Church Street in Orangeville form 8:00 – 11:00 am to pick up some great toys, book and other items that will be available. Go to the Facebook event page form more details.

On Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm stop by Parker Mitsubishi on Highway 9 as they celebrate their One-Year Anniversary. Stop by for the free ice cream, bouncy castles and face painting all they ask is you bring a donation for Family Transition Place. Go to the Facebook event page for more information.

 Saturday from 12:00 – 5:00 pm head over to the new Tire Discounter Distribution Centre on County Road 3 to celebrate Tire Discounter Group Grand Opening & Family Fun Day.
