Spring is in the air and the last couple of days the weather has started to feel a little more like spring. There are some great events going on Around Orangeville including the Home Show, some craft sales and the Grand Opening of the Edify Centre. Get out and enjoy some of these events in our community.
All Weekend
Spring is here and this weekend you can check out the Orangeville Lions Club Home and Garden Show at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. Come out and meet the 150 Vendors, showcasing everything and anything to do with home improvement, including renovations, gardening, landscaping, heating & air conditioning, local real estate, etc. Plus, information booths on local services and local artisans. Off the Grid the latest production by Theatre Orangeville will be at the Orangeville Opera House this weekend. Off the Grid is a new show written by John Spurway about a couple who decide to celebrate their anniversary with a weekend off the grid. There are shows on Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca for tickets and more information about the show.
Friday
Come out to the Athlete Institute and see the top-rated grade 9 and 10 basketball players from across the province compete in the Bio Steel All Canadian 2019 Nike Skills Challenge. On Friday Night see the top female grade 9 and 10 prospects go head to head starting at 7:00 pm followed by a co-ed scrimmage. Saturday
If you’re in Shelburne and thinking about signing your children up for Spring and Summer activities head over to Centre Dufferin Recreation Centre for Central Registration on Saturday from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to get more information about and register with Jr Schooners, Mansfield Baseball, Shelburne Public Library, Shelburne Golf and Country Club, Shelburne Minor Baseball, Shelburne Shooters Ball Hockey, Shelburne Minor Soccer and Shelburne Vets Lacrosse. Come out to the Spring into Spring Craft Show on Saturday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Tony Rose Arena. This show features 130 vendors selling crafts and other items. There is a $3 admission fee. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
If you’re in the Hillsburgh area there is a Free Family Skate at the Hillsburgh Arena on Saturday from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Bring the kids out and they can skate with Zuma and Skye from the Paw Patrol and Olaf from Frozen. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
There is also a Free Skate being held at Teen Ranch on Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm sponsored by Journey Church.
Saturday come to Athlete Institute for day 2 of the Bio Steel All Canadian 2019 Nike Skills Challenge featuring the top-rated grade 9 and 10 boys from across the province. Sunday
The EDIFY Centre will be hosting it’s Grand Opening on Sunday from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at their brand new location at 62 - A Broadway. The EDIFY Centre is a mental health education centre with a goal of providing workshops, and one on one counseling in our community. The Shop with Purpose Spring Market in support of Family Transition Place is at Tony Rose Arena from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Sunday. This market will feature local vendors selling something for everyone. Admission is FREE, go to the Facebook event page for more details.
