It’s the Victoria Day long weekend, I’ve often considered this is unofficial start to summer but with the temperatures we have had this spring I’m hopeful we will see some spring-like weather a little more consistently. There isn’t a whole lot going on in Orangeville this weekend but here is a quick run down on what is going on in the area.

Friday Night at 8:00 at Tony Rose Arena come out to support the Junior A Northmen. The 2019 Hornheads kick off the OJALL season against their rivals Six Nations Arrows. The first 100 fans will receive limited edition Zack Deaken & Dylan Watson player cards. There will also be a few words said about the Northmen legend Phil Sanderson who passed away in October.

Start your Saturday with a trip to the Orangeville Farmers Market, outside Town Hall from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Pick up some great local products and support the local vendors. For more details go to the  Facebook event page for more details.

If you have smaller children you can check out the Pony Club at In The Hills Equine on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Toddlers and children ages 2-6 will explore some age appropriate chores involving the horses/ponies and miniature horses. They will learn the basics of care, grooming and leading (they will not be riding). The cost of the program is $20+HST per child and parents must attend. Advance registration is required, go to inthehillsequine.ca.

On Saturday the Caledon OPP will be hosting an Open House from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm In honour of Police Week. You can tour the detachment, meet the OPP staff, check out the vehicles and enjoy the kids’ zone and a barbecue lunch. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.

If you are looking for a Victoria Day Celebration head to the Nobleton Victoria Day on Monday. The Fair start at 11:00 am and concludes with a fireworks display at dusk. Come celebrate Victoria Day in Nobleton! Start your day watching the annual Victoria Day Parade (leaving from the Nobleton Library at 11am). Make your way to the Nobleton Arena for the famous Victoria Day Fair which includes vendors, food, entertainment and a midway. Finish off the day watching the greatest Victoria Day fireworks display in Ontario.  Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
