Hope everyone had a great Halloween. If you can tear yourself away from the all the candy there are some great family friendly events going on #AroundOrangeville this weekend.
Friday
Friday is a PD Day for the UGDSB Elementary Schools and if you are looking for something to do there is a Public Skate at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Get out with the kids for a little exercise and to burn off some of that extra energy from all the post Trick or Treat candy. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
Dance Orangeville will be hosting an 80’s Halloween – Dance at Tony Rose on Friday night from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This event will combine the fun of Halloween and the 1980’s to make a fun evening of dance for all ages. Tickets are available at the door. For more information check out the Facebook event page.
Friday Night in join the Bolton Community Crew for the Pumpkin Walk 2019, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. You can take a walk along the Humber River Heritage Trail where you can admire hundreds of jack o lanterns that will light your way. Admission is free but they will be accepting donation of a non perishable food item for the eXchange. For more information go to the Facebook event page.
Saturday
Saturday morning the Orangeville Farmers Market returns after a week off. The winter market kicks off inside Town Hall from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and will run every other week through the winter. Come out and see many of your favourite vendors from the summer market inside and pick up some great local products. For more information go to the Orangeville Farmers Market Facebook page.
Saturday from 9:00 am – Noon go to the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex for the Get Fit 4 SickKids Fundraiser in support of the SickKids Foundation. There will be 3 hours of fitness fun featuring Zumba, Kangoo Jumps and Socasize. For more information or to register go to fundraise.sickkidsfoundation.com.
Saturday join Silver Willow Farm Rescue and Sanctuary for their annual Pumpkin and Food Drive Open House from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at the farm in Mansfield. Bring your carved pumpkins, gourds, and any other animal feed for the animals and take part in a fun day at the farm where you can meet the animals, enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride, find some treats at the bake sale, face painting for kids and more. The 4th Annual Guy Fawkes Bonfire will be held at the Orangeville Fairgrounds on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Bring the whole family and take part in this British tradition in our own community and celebrate with great food, live music activities for the whole family to enjoy, a bonfire and fireworks to close out the event. If you are looking for some great crafts and gifts check out the Autumn Harvest Gift and Craft Show at Compass Community Church on Saturday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. There will be a great selection of handmade crafts and home décor items available for purchase. Admission is free however a cash donation would be appreciated. Saturday evening from 7:00 – 11:00 pm join Citrus City Tattoo for the Dead Things 9 Art Show. This show will showcase art created by tattoo artists across North America using a feature material of Moose and Bison jawbones. The proceeds of the event will go to support Hospice Dufferin. Sunday
On Sunday God’s Closet is hosting another Free Shop Day at the Orangeville Seventh Day Adventist Church on Hockley Road from 12:00 – 2:30 pm. Admission is $1 and with your paid admission you will be able to pick up so gently used clothing for your children up to age 16. This is a great opportunity for families to pick up some needed clothing in preparation for the coming winter. For more details go to the Facebook event page.
Sunday at the Caledon Ski Club you can join Skiis and Bikes for the Olympian Fireside Chat from 12:00 – 3:30 pm. Hear inspiring stories from Alpine Skiing Olympians Larisa Yurkiw, Erin Latimer, and Phil Brown. Funds raised will go to support the NZ Foundation. All Weekend
Theatre Orangeville’s production of Come Down from Up River will be closing it’s run at the Orangeville Opera House Theatre this weekend. Written by Norm Foster this show explores family relationships and forgiveness. For show times and tickets go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca.
If you love quilts and the work that goes into making a beautiful quilt you can check out the Orangeville Peacemakers Magic of Cloth Quilt Show on Friday and Saturday at the Orangeville Fairgrounds.
