We’ve gotten our first taste of winter weather with some snow this week. I know my kids were excited to see the white stuff and get out and play in it. The forecast is for the cooler temperatures to stick around for a while, so if you are looking for something to do there are some family friendly events going on in our communities this weekend.
Friday
Friday the Teen Advisory Group meets at the Orangeville Public Library on Mill Street from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. Teens can come out and earn community service hours and have some fun helping the library with preparing for some of the great programming they offer. Friday evening Party Rockers Youth Dance will be at the Orangeville Fairgrounds from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This is a fun filled night for kids aged 7 – 13 with dancing, games, and prizes. For more information or to buy your tickets go to partyrockers.ca.
Friday night at the Orangeville Opera House you can check out some classic rock with an Evening of Orchestral Led Zeppelin and The Who presented by Michael White and The White starting at 7:30 pm. Saturday
Saturday you can enjoy Bolton Comic – Con at the Albion Bolton Community Centre from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. You can check out some vendors selling comic books and other collectibles. Bring a donation for the local food bank to be entered into a raffle for some great prizes. For more details about the show go to popculturecanada.ca.
Join the Orangeville Police Service for an Open House and BBQ on Saturday from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Police Station on C-Line. You can take a tour of the facilities, take part in the charity BBQ and have your car seats inspected by an officer. For more information go to the Orangeville Police Service Facebook page.
If you are looking to get started with Christmas already you can check out Knox Presbyterian Church Christmas Bazaar in Grand Valley on Saturday from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm. You will be able to get a wide selection of Christmas crafts, baking, and other items. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.
Saturday evening come out to the Orangeville Fairgrounds and see the Orangeville Roller Girls host their final game in Orangeville doors open at 5:00 pm. If you have been a long-time supporter or if you are just hearing about this for the first time here is your last chance to check out Roller Derby in town. Saturday from 12:00 – 4:00 pm you can go to Rivoli’s Pet World in Bolton for the Donate a Paw Open House and Meet & Greet. The team from Donate a Paw will be on hand with some of the small animals they have in their foster care looking for a permanent home for you to meet and maybe you will find a pet you love and start the adoption process. Saturday Night the Orangeville Legion will be hosting a Remembrance Day Banquette and Dance from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. This is an All Ages event and will feature a dinner followed with dancing and guest speaker Orangeville Fire Chief Robert Morden. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Legion.
If you are a fan of the music of ABBA you can check out the ABBA Magic touring show at the Orangeville Opera House Theatre on Saturday night starting at 8:00 pm. This Billy Culp Productions show features talented performers bringing you all the hits from the band ABBA. For more information and for tickets go to tickets.theatreorangeville.ca
Saturday join Pear Home in Orangeville for their Annual Anniversary Sale and Open House. There will be storewide sales, gifts with purchases and door prizes so if you are looking to get a head start on your holiday shopping this would be a good place to start. Go to pearhome.ca for more details.
Friday through Sunday
This weekend at the Caledon East Recreation Complex you can come and check out some women’s hockey and help raise money for a great cause at the Udder Tournament Friday through Sunday. All funds raised will go to support Orson Herzog a 2-year-old boy who is living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
