Halloween is next week. That means all weekend long you can get out and celebrate Halloween with the whole family in all of our local communities. Have a very spooky weekend.

All Weekend

Pumpkin Fest at Sweet Peas Farm continues this weekend. Sweet Peas farm will be open 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily until Halloween. There are a whole host of activities for the kids and adults alike and with each paid admission you receive a pumpkin. Go to the Facebook event page for more details about Pumpkin Fest.

Downey’s Farm Pumpkinfest is still running through to Halloween daily from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Head down to the farm to enjoy all the regular activities in the kids play area, the massive corn maze and many Halloween themed additions. Go to downeysfarm.com for more information about the event.

This weekend Theatre Orangeville continues showing its latest production written by Norm Foster Come Down From Up River with performances this weekend at the Orangeville Opera House. The 3rd Erin Guides will be hosting a Haunted House Tour on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on 5th Line in Hillsburgh. Bring a non perishable food item or cash donation to the East Wellington Advisory Group Community Services. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.

Orangeville’s local Griswold’s of Halloween, Trina Scott and Shawn Hynes have completed their Giant Haunted Halloween Display at their home located at 82 Mill Street. You can stop by to check out this elaborate Halloween display nightly between 7:00 – 10:00 pm from now until Halloween. Check out the Facebook event page for more details.

Friday

Friday evening you can check out the Orangeville Recreation Friday Night Social – Halloween Party at Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre from 7:00 – 9:00 pm for children ages 7 – 14. This will be a Halloween party where children are encouraged to come in costume and they will be able to paint pumpkins and build scarecrows. Please bring an old shirt and pants for your scarecrow. Friday Night Party Rockers Entertainment returns to Orangeville for the Halloween Youth Dance from 7:00 – 10:00 at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. Bring your kids out for a fun-filled night of dancing, games, contests, and prizes. Ages: 7-13 costumes are optional. For more information and to buy tickets go to partyrockers.ca.

Saturday

Join Sustainable Orangeville and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority for a Community Tree Planting on Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Trees will be planted near the Monora Creek between Blind Line and Amelia Street. Remember to dress for the weather and go to www.eventbrite.ca for more details or to pre register for this event.

Fiddlehead Care Farm will be hosting the Come Hang Out with Us Halloween event at the farm on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come out and enjoy games, mad science lab, pumpkin decorating, guided forest walk, slime station, animal adventures and Monster Mash dance party. Go to fiddleheadcarefarm.com for more details.

Haunt in the Park will be in Fiddle Park in Shelburne on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm for the “mini boo” and again from 6:00 – 10:00 for the full scare experience. Shelburne BIA’s Treats in the Street will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in the streets of downtown Shelburne. Get your children dressed up in their Halloween costumes and bring them out where over 25 local stores on Main Street and Owen Sound Street will be handing out candy. There will be meet up at the Shelburne Legion where kids can receive a treat bag and there will also be a shuttle running to Fiddle Park to bring kids to the Haunt in the Park. Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm you can Masquerade on Main in Grand Valley. Get the kids dressed up and they can haunt downtown Grand Valley. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.

The Bolton Community Crew will be hosting it’s Second Annual Town Wide Trick or Treat event on Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Dress the kids in their Halloween costumes and trick or treat local businesses in downtown Bolton. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.

The 3rd Annual Trick or Treat Trade Show is being held at the Erin Legion on Saturday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. You can bring your children in their Halloween costumes where they can enjoy some indoor tick or treating and the there will be several local vendors that the parents can pick up some great items from. The Caledon Public Library will be hosting the Caledon East Block Party on Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Meet your neighbours, trick or treat with local businesses, get your face painted, go on a scavenger hunt, try some tech, enjoy some snacks and more. If you are looking for some scary Halloween fun head to Sweet Pea’s Farm for the final evening of the Haunted Forest on Saturday evening from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. I was at the farm last weekend and walked the haunted forest during the day time and I think if you are into giving yourself a scare this would be the perfect place to go. Saturday evening the Grand Valley Fire Department will be sure to scare with their Halloween Haunted House from 5:00 – 11:00 pm. Come to the Fire Hall and enjoy a scare or two with the local firefighters. For more details go to calendar.townofgrandvalley.ca.

Saturday evening Champion Cheer Acadamy will open its doors to the public for the Boo Bash Halloween Party from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. This event is geared to children aged 5 – 12 and kids can get dressed in their Halloween costume and enjoy an evening of games pizza and fun with friends. Saturday Night will be the 10th and final Biscayne Haunted House from 6:30 – 9:30 at 93 Biscayne Crescent in Orangeville. Bring a donation to the Orangeville food bank and enjoy the terror of the Haunted House one last time. Go to the Facebook event page for more details.

Sunday

Shop With Purpose presents the Halloween Market on Sunday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Monora Park Pavilion. Come out and shop from local vendors all helping to raise funds for ALAS Dufferin, there will be treats and activities for the kids so you can bring them along. Orangeville Recreation will be hosting a Halloween Party at Alder Recreation Centre on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. There will be free family skating and swimming along with Halloween crafts. Spaces are limited for the swims and skates so show up early to make sure you get a spot. Go to orangeville.ca for more details.

Bolton Rotary will be hosting the Haunted Hill 5km/10km Run on Sunday starting at 9:30 am at the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness. There will be a free kids 1km run followed by the 5km and 10km routes starting at 10:00 am come dressed in a costume or you running gear, challenge yourself to the run and help raise funds for the community. Sunday at the Mono Community Centre the town will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. There will be entertainment, crafts, games, prizes, treats and a haunted house. Go to townofmono.com for more details or to register for the event.
