For my book in October I listened to Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. I keep seeing this book on top personal development book lists or recommended by other people so I decided to give it a try. I thought the book was really not worth the time.
What I liked is the secrets themselves were good nothing earth shattering and nothing that you can’t find in other places. Basically, the beliefs that you have about money are beliefs that were set in your mind from your upbringing and your parents’ relationship with money. You can change your beliefs and there is some information about setting goals, having an abundance mindset, associate with other successful people, help other people solve their problems and you will find wealth and more mindsets like that.
The main problems I had with this book are that it was light in practical advice or information and it felt like one long sales pitch for other programs that the author offers. He touches on a topic provides some general information then begins with how in the intensive Millionaire Mind Academy Program (or what ever he calls his program) you will go more in depth about the tactics around this topic. I found this really off putting.
If you don’t pick up this book, you aren’t missing much. There are some good mindsets but the ideas were not fully developed or explained and I think you can get the same info from other sources. The whole time I was listening to this book I felt like I was being sold to and I really don’t think you need a 5-hour sales pitch.
