The Super Bowl is over and I’m still coming down off the high of the Kansas City Chiefs winning their first Super Bowl in 50 years. If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend there are some great events going on in our communities this weekend.
All Weekend Long
The 2020 Island Lake Conservation Area Ice Fishing Derby kicks off on Saturday and runs through next weekend. Take part in the derby for your chance to win prizes for the biggest fish caught and if you register before Friday at noon you will be eligible for an early bird prize. Friday
Friday join Party Rockers Entertainment for another Youth Dance Fundraiser at Spencer Avenue Elementary School from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This is a fun night of dancing, games and other fun for kids ages 7 – 13. For more information and tickets go to partyrockers.ca.
Island Lake Conservation Area will be hosting a Moonlight Event on Friday night from 6:00 – 9:30 pm. Come out and explore the trails by snowshoe or bring your skates for a skate under the moonlight on the lake. For more details go to cvc.ca.
The Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival is presenting an evening of Jimi Hendrix music with Stone Free Tribute to Jimi Hendrix at the Orangeville Opera House on Friday from 7:30 – 10:30 pm. Come out and see some fabulous musicians show their appreciation for the music of Jimi Hendrix and help raise money for the 2020 Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival. If you are a fan of the show Stranger Things, Pottery Parties Studio in the Mill Street Mall will be hosting a Stranger Things Painting Workshop on Friday from 6:30 – 8:15 pm. Saturday
Saturday the Orangeville Farmers Market returns to Downtown Orangeville at Town Hall from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Come out and pick up some great products and support some amazing local businesses. For more information go to the Orangeville Farmers Market Facebook page.
If you are visiting Downtown Orangeville on Saturday be sure to stop by the Orangeville Public Library for their Annual Valentine’s Book and Bake Sale from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. You will be able to pick from a wide selection of gently used books and DVDs and some delicious baked goods. For more details go to orangeville.ca.
If you are considering post-secondary education, Georgian College will be hosting an Open House on Saturday at the Orangeville Campus on Centennial from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Saturday, join the Westies In Need Rescue at the Orangeville Fairgrounds for their Annual Indoor Play Day from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Bring your Westie or another breed of dog (Westie Wannabes) for a fun indoor play. There will be snacks and vendors available for you as well. Cost is $10 per family you can pay at the door, go to westiesinneed.ca for more information.
Tan-Tations Tanning Salon is hosting their 9th Anniversary SPCA Fundraiser on Saturday from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Stop by and receive free tanning with a donation to the local SPCA, enter draws to win amazing prizes and discounts off any purchases made during the event. Sunday
Do you have a young chef in your home? Sunday the Heatherlea Farm Shoppe will be hosting Growing Chefs! Ontario a cooking workshop designed for kids ages 8 – 16 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. This hands-on culinary workshop is presented by Growing Chefs Ontario and will provide kids the ability to develop their skills in the kitchen under the supervision of a professional chef.
